In this project, efforts are being made to improve the quality of viscose fibres as well as yarn by visiting the fibre manufacturing units and the textile mills.  A number of spinning parameters have been identified to improve the quality of yarn spun from the viscose fibres.

Development of High Production Roller Gin with Chute Feed Arrangement

Major causes affecting the production rate of existing double roller Gin machine were identified. The productivity is improved in a gin with the modification at roller gin machine without affecting the quality of cotton. At present, some machine are running without any working problem. Moreover some parameters of gin were optimized. More work to rationalize is going on.

Design & Development of Microcontroller based portable electronic fibre fineness & maturity tester.

Knowledge of fibre fineness is important to know regularly  and strength of yarn where as maturity influences nepping  potential  of cotton. The  design parameters were finalized after discussions with the industry  partner and field experts. Based on these discussions, a prototype has been prepared  using microcontroller based design.  Laboratory  trial are being carried out to  compare the results of the prototype instrument to compare with the available  sophisticated instruments.
