…contains the
methodology for the analysis of fabric defects
…
required basic tools, properties of fibers, yarns & their
technological significance
…
some well known and typical fabric defects & corresponding remedial
actions.
….
contains selective case studies of defects in woven and knitted fabrics
and the methodology adopted to analyze their causes.
…..each
case is presented with a motto that fabric defect should not be treated
as passing loss but as an opportunity to learn more about the root
causes to reduce value loss. |

Contents
-
This
book contains valuable experiences of ATIRA spanning over last three
decades on fine tuning of ring frames including the latest ones
across the world.
-
Describes
refined maintenance practices/techniques developed by ATIRA and
demonstrated on many a modern mills shopfloor through coloured
photographs and schematic diagrams which have resulted in 3 to 15%
ringframe productivity improvement, control of consistency
of various yarn quality parameters within and between bobbins and
reduction of power consumption without investment.
Several case studies and results are given.
-
Gives
conceptual inputs to practicing shopfloor technicians/students on
genesis and requirement on precision of ring
frame subassemblies and components.
-
Contains
ATIRA’s fundamental research on certain ring frame aspects.
-
A
unique must keep book for every mill engaged in spinning activity in
cotton/denim/polyester/ jute/worsted/synthetics spun on ring
frame/com-pact spinning frame and like machines specially so in
today’s global recession period.
-
It
can serve as textbook for textile students.

…...
Quality of Cotton has financial implications as well as Technological
bearing.
…..
Quality of Cotton is important not only to Breeders and Farmers but also
to Ginners, Spinners…….
….
Cotton classification has relied on instrumental measurement of
properties.
…..
ATIRA has been extending Cotton testing facility to Ginners for last 50
years.

ATIRA has been working towards compiling data on Indian Cotton Varieties
in terms of HVI quality parameters to help Indian trade and Industry
This compendium provides information on fibre characteristics of about
30,000 samples of cotton received and analyzed during October 2006 to
March 2007.
The
properties of cotton samples from various stations are given in terms of
UHML (Upper Half Mean Length), ML (Mean Length), UI (Uniformity Index),
SFI (Short Fiber Index), MIC (Micronaire), Rd (Degree of Reflectance) and
‘b’ (Yellowness).
